Mobility in Motion, a manufacturer and supplier of vehicle adaptations and driving aids, has partnered with West Yorkshire Combined Authority to showcase the latest technology for disabled EV drivers.
The company worked with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority to lease an EV vehicle kitted out with the latest driving adaptations, which will be on display at the ‘Explore Electric’ event being held on 10 September at the John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield.
Explore Electric is being held as part of a public consultation to improve electric vehicle infrastructure across West Yorkshire, through the authority’s £17 million Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) programme.
Matt Fieldhouse, managing director at Mobility in Motion, said: “At Mobility in Motion, we are deeply committed to innovation and to enabling independence and accessibility for all, regardless of their mobility challenges and vehicle preferences, be that a traditional fuel vehicle or EV.”
He added that Mobility in Motion's presence at the event is "a testament to [their] dedication to ensuring that the transition to electric vehicles is inclusive for everyone."
The managing director commented: “By showcasing an EV with a selection of driving adaptations, we aim to raise awareness that businesses like ours are actively working to ensure that EVs are accessible to everyone regardless of their vehicle adaptation requirements."
While there will be more than 40 EV vehicles on show, Mobility in Motion’s vehicle - a 2025 Ford Explorer - will be the only one of its kind, adapted to demonstrate what is possible for people with reduced mobility or a disability, but who still want to retain their independence behind the wheel and explore purchasing an EV vehicle.
The Ford Explorer being showcased will be adapted with the latest boot hoist technology, as well a Turny Evo swivel seat.
