Islington Council is set to install a range of AC, DC and high-speed EV chargers over the next two years to support its electric fleet of over 500 vehicles.
The project will see Compleo install and maintain a mix of AC and DC chargers tailored to meet the diverse needs of Islington Council’s fully electric fleet which range from electric cars to coaches and tipper trucks.
Most of the new chargers will be installed at the council’s waste and recycling centre at Cottage Road, Islington, which serves as a hub for its operational vehicles. The installation will provide fast, efficient, and reliable charging to keep their vital fleet on the move and operating smoothly to provide a seamless service to Islington residents.
The first EV chargers will start to be installed in early 2025 and will be completed over a two-year period.
Councilor Rowena Champion, executive member for environment, air quality and transport, said: “We’re committed to creating a greener, healthier Islington, and this partnership with Compleo is a vital step in reducing our carbon footprint and improving air quality for our residents. By electrifying our fleet, we are leading by example and showing that sustainability and efficiency can go hand in hand.
