A new range of best value mobile voice and data services is now available to public sector buyers from in an arrangement worth an estimated £170 million per annum.
The new Mobile Solutions (II) framework agreements, available through OGCbuying.solutions, feature new propositions covering the full scope of mobile voice and data requirements. These cutting-edge arrangements include provision for standard ordering off a catalogue of services and for further competition amongst capable suppliers, where appropriate.
All suppliers on the framework agreements were subjected to a rigorous selection process, and include British Telecom, 02 UK, T-Mobile (UK) and Vodafone UK.
This lot is for the provision of mobile voice and data services to satisfy the basic needs of public sector mobile phone users, including, as a minimum, the ability to make and receive voice calls, to send and receive SMS the provision of voicemail services, provision of mobile data, mobile data applications and value added mobile services including, but not limited to:-
- Data transmission through GSM (Global System for Mobile), GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), UMTS (Universal Mobile Telephone System), HSCSD (High Speed Circuit Switched Data), 2.5G, 3G and and High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technologies.
- Device agnostic, data applications as solutions to business requirements such as push e-mail, job scheduling, etc.
- Other mobile voice and data services such as, lone worker protection, virtual private assistant, bulk SMS and vehicle tracking, etc.
The framework agreements have been awarded in three lots:
Mobile voice and data: Refining the structure of previous agreements, this lot reflects the way in which customers procure commodity mobile services and addresses key customer needs relating to service management. The suppliers in this lot are British Telecommunications PLC; 02 UK Limited; Orange Personal Communication Services Limited; T-Mobile (UK) Limited; and Vodafone UK.
Wide-area paging and messaging: Procured primarily for the benefit of key public sector workers working in environments where the use of messaging devices capable of transmission is restricted, this lot also provides for a range of messaging services including for the delivery of bulk SMS messaging and network independent, multi-platform messaging. The suppliers in this lot are 2ergo Limited; HTK Limited; Orange Personal Communication Services Limited; PageOne Communications Limited; and Vodafone UK.
Bespoke mobile solutions: Intended to assist those customers who have needs not specifically addressed by commodity mobile services, including those seeking solutions to complex and bespoke requirements. The suppliers in this lot are AMT-SYBEX; British Telecommunications PLC; Detica Limited; Orange Personal Communication Services Limited; and Vodafone UK.
